In the Fall, when mammals, reptiles, birds and
young of the year are trying to find warmth
and shelter for the coming Winter, they fly, hop or
run across sunwarmed pavement, especially after
cool nights and are obliterated by drivers.

I drove the Dorcas Bay Rd. off Hwy 6 south of Tobermory
last Fall, most days, and was shocked by the CARnage.

So, with several friends, we began the Witness Project.

When we see "roadkill", we circle the dead one in chalk,
usually white, and when we know the creature, we add
it's name.

Then we take a photograph. (All safely for us of course.)

The photograph honours the dead creature and reminds
us of how lethal cars, trucks and speed are to>>>>>
